Food from around the World Empty
PostSubject: Food from around the World   Food from around the World EmptyThu Jan 15, 2009 11:23 am

Post pictures of different dishes, influenced by different cultures from around the world. I'l start with the Japanese cuisine Sushi. Once a delicacy, now can be ordered in many UK towns and citys. My experience of Sushi, was a fun evening where plates of raw fish would move round the seating areas on a convair belt. The main ingredient of Sushi is Raw Fish accompanied with rice. Eating Sushi with cutlery is almost unheard of, so if you choose to pay a visit to a restuarant, get some pratice in before you sit down lol! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi

Satay,I love it,as long as it's hot.The ready made stuff from supermarkets is crap though

Quote :
This is a South-east Asian speciality eaten across much of Indonesia
(from where it originates), Thailand and Malaysia. Small pieces of
marinated meat or fish are skewered on small wooden sticks and grilled
or barbecued. Satay is usually served with spicy peanut sauce. It's essentially a street food, but is good served as a starter or main course with rice.

I've always wanted to cook such glorious meals, but never have had the discipline of mind or the imagination and patience to bring the thing off.

I used to enjoy cooking and entertaining but it seems to have come to a holt since having my son,I hate mundane every day cooking.

Here's another meal I used to enjoy, this time from Ghana,I miss having friends from all over the world here back here in Northern sticks. I had Ghanaian friend from Accra he was a musician , and he used to cook me Peanut/groundnut stew which had to be accompanied by pineapple juice

Food from around the World PoutineA popular Canadian dish is "Poutine". And whilst I was in Montreal I had the opportunity to try it out. Before I ordered I had been told that the dish contained fries and cheese covered in gravy  The meal looks quite unsightly lol, but on an empty stomach, and maybe even a few beers here and there, it tastes delicious!! :248682:

Shish Kebabs.

These are really simple to make and brilliant starters. Best thing about them is you can make them at a Barbeque.
